The Banners of St.John's
St. John’s worship service is blessed with beauty
that comes through an outstanding collection of over 40
banners made by the creative energies of many people who have attended
St. John's over the past forty years.
Starting in the mid 1960's a Banner Committee was formed and the work
began with the intent of revealing, in
banner form, the good news of the gospel story. The finished banners do
that and more. After countless hours
of work, the banners capture the attention and challenge the viewer, for
they are a beautiful combination of
artistic excellence brought to life with colourful fabric and fine
stitches. These banners bring to the visual
attention of the gathered worshipping body the changes in the liturgical
year and allow us to give pause from
our everyday lives to reflect on the presence of the Holy Spirit.
